GDPR

GreyChat is fully committed to complying with and helping you comply with GDPR

What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new EU regulation aimed at coordinating data privacy laws across Europe and enforcing stricter privacy laws. It's designed to better protect user privacy and reshape how organizations handle personal data.
Does it Apply to Me?
GDPR applies to any company, website, or organization worldwide that processes personal data of EU residents. If your company processes, stores, or transmits personal data of EU residents, you will need to comply with the new regulations.
Given GreyChat's global nature, GDPR is likely to impact you in some way, therefore we advise all users to thoroughly research the new GDPR regulations. GreyChat is fully committed to helping you achieve compliance, so we will be introducing anonymity features by May 25, 2018, and ensuring that user identifiable data is collected or processed as little as possible.
Data Processor (GreyChat)
GreyChat's customer service system and all other services can only be used for lawful purposes. It is prohibited to transmit, distribute, or store any material in violation of any applicable laws or regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, any material used without proper authorization protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right, and any obscene, libelous, material constituting illegal threat, or material violating export control laws.
Misuse of Our Services
GreyChat generally acts as a data processor, which means we process data on your behalf. GreyChat allows you to collect and temporarily store visitor log information, such as anonymous IP, URLs, country codes, and user agents, for analysis, processing, testing, and security. Additionally, our system temporarily or permanently stores files manually uploaded by you or obtained from your website.
Data Controller (You)
As a GreyChat customer, you generally act as a data controller, which means you determine if, why, and how long data is stored on our system. Our system provides methods for processing, storing, and aggregating stored information. If you store personal data on GreyChat, as a controller, you are responsible for demonstrating the same level of GDPR compliance.
In most cases, data held and collected by GreyChat does not contain any user identifiable information. Depending on how you use GreyChat and the structure of your website, we may collect personal data from your users in certain cases. This includes hosted content uploaded by users and personal data that may be transmitted in HTTP protocol's URL, User-Agent, or Ref-erer headers.
While not common, if you prefer not to serve users from the EU, GreyChat also offers a way to completely block users from the EU from accessing your content using our traffic manager tool.
Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
Generally, GreyChat does not collect, store, or distribute information that can in any way be used to identify a user's identity or contain their personal information. If you believe you are processing personal data on the GreyChat platform, you are eligible to be a data processor, and the law requires you to complete a Data Processing Agreement (DPA). We ensure this feature is available before May 25, so please contact our support team to obtain the agreement.
How Does GreyChat Comply with GDPR?
GreyChat is fully committed to complying with GDPR. We have thoroughly revised our user privacy and data policies and taken steps to ensure no personally identifiable data from users accessing your services through GreyChat is stored by anonymizing any data that can be used to directly or indirectly identify users. We have also signed data processing agreements with our partners and carefully reviewed that they have taken necessary privacy measures for shared or stored data on their platforms.
